Kindergarten Graduation - How We Celebrated!

Last week Baby Girl graduated from Kindergarten.
(Can you believe that?!?!?!)

Her ceremony was the last Tuesday of school, and we held her grad party the following weekend.
We thought that even though she had a few days to go between her ceremony and 'real' party, she should still come home to a little celebration.

Keep reading to see how we made the day special!

Cake & Balloons

When we got home after school that day, Baby Girl walked in to see these surprise balloons with her cake.  Her face broke out into a HUGE smile as she threw her arms around me and said, "Oh Thank you Mommy!!!"

She knew that I was making her a cake, but the balloons were a complete surprise.  Her enthusiasm made the extra errand that day totally worth it ;)

These balloons and balloon weight were found at Dollar Tree for $1 each.

Balloon Weight

I really liked the festive bursts of color on this weight, but I'll admit to quite a bit of hemming and hawing before deciding to make the purchase.  I typically don't buy helium filled balloons, and I didn't want to buy something I wasn't going to re-use (even if it was only a dollar).  Finally I decided that I could keep it in a box with the bubble favor containers (and other grad themed decor), to be used again.

That's not that weird, right?  I mean, in five more years Baby Girl will be graduating 5th grade, and the Little Man will be having his Kindergarten graduation.  That totally justifies saving these things...Right?

Ok, ok, so maybe I have this thing with recycling!  But even better, imagine this:  One day, when Baby Girl graduates from high school, I can throw her a party and say "Look at this!  It's your balloon weight from Kindergarten graduation!"  Awwwwww! Hahaha!

:D :D :D

Grad Themed Bubbles

I found these bubble favors at Dollar Tree as well, where they are packaged 6 for $1.  Originally I purchased them for her big party, but I thought why not get a couple out for this day as well?  Not only did they make the table display a bit more festive, but Baby Girl and Little Man enjoyed playing with them....well Baby Girl enjoyed playing with them...Little Man enjoyed dumping his...:D

Party Napkins & Plates

These I pulled out of my kitchen drawer where I stash all of our leftover party supplies.  The black plates were from a Minnie Mouse birthday party and the napkins I purchased for an ice cream gift basket.

(You can see the ice cream gift basket post by clicking here)

(A 'From the Archives' Minnie Mouse party post will be coming this summer)

Watermelon Cake & Graduation Confetti

(Check back early next week for the 'Behind the Scenes' scoop on how I decorated this cake!)

The graduation themed confetti was another Dollar Tree purchase ($1) that I made for the big party.  I didn't see any harm in breaking open the package and sprinkling a bit of the confetti around early.

If you are keeping track - that was 3 balloons and 1 balloon weight purchased for this evening for a total of $4.

Husby and I feel that it's really important to make life fun and to celebrate our family, but we also want to avoid going overboard.  This little celebration was just perfect!

I hope you enjoyed the post, thanks for stopping by!
