Starting with a shadow box I painted it fully in beige before adding the gray floor. The white rectangles on the outside edges are bits of adhesive backed hook and loop tape that hold the cover in place. This post of the miniature laundry room will walk you through how I made the covers.
Using craft sticks I hot glued them in place to make the shape of a couch and painted them in white. the wall mirror is the inside part of a photo frame sticker (the part that you would normally just leave on the paper backing and toss out). I lightly colored it in with a gray marker so that it looked like a tiny mirror and stuck it on the wall.
When the couch was dry I accessorized. The throw blankets are tiny pieces of cloth that I cut, folded and then glued into position. The larger plant container is a random pot that I hand while the two small ones are Barbie kitchen containers, all painted in gold and filled with faux greenery cuttings. The tiny wall shelf is a bit of a craft stick painted in white and the deer above is from a Christmas ornament. The mini popcorn, soda and glasses are dollhouse toys and I added in the buttons/ empty spools to keep this room consistent with the others I have made so far.
And that's my miniature family room.
