Since the shelving in my bakery storage closet contains faux baking ingredients like sugar and dough, I wanted to add in a stick of butter as well. I don't have a butter mold but I thought maybe I could manage one by hand out of clay. Here is how I did it:

For this project I used Crayola Air Dry Clay and a straight edge kitchen tool from Dollar Tree.
After mixing a handful of clay up to make it more manageable, I then fashioned it into as much of a stick as I could by hand.
Then I kept working it against the flat surface of the kitchen tool to make the sides more straight and angular.
Once I had it shaped more or less like an actual stick of butter, I carefully sliced off one end to make a pat and let the clay dry.
When the clay was dry I painted it in a buttery yellow and placed it on the shelf in my bakery. It's not perfectly shaped but it will do and I'm liking the addition to my faux ingredients!
