Lalaloopsy Birthday - Gathering Materials

It's that time of year again when Baby Girl is turning a year older and I'm busily pulling together everything necessary for her celebration.  This year she decided upon a Lalaloopsy theme.

Not familiar with Lalaloopsy?  Lalaloopsy girls are rag dolls from a Nickelodeon cartoon that "came to life when their last stitch was sewn".  They have cute names like Crumbs Sugar Cookie or Spot Splatter Splash and are named/ dressed for the material that they were 'made' from.  For example, Crumbs was sewn from a bakers apron and Spot from a pair of painters overalls.

Though they are supposedly rag dolls, the toy dolls for sale all come in plastic and three different sizes;  the large 18", the minis and the tinies, each complete with a pet.  If you want the large dollhouse then you need the 18", but if you want to play with the ferris wheel or circus train, you need the minis.  Interested in jewelry or miniature houses that can fit in your back pack?  Then you need the tinies.  And if that's not hard enough to keep track of, they change every year with the current dolls being 'retired' and a whole new set being introduced....and don't even get me started on the baby dolls, books, movies, etc...:D :D :D

Needless to say we have a ton of Lalaloopsy dolls in this house.  This is great for me because I'm going to use the dolls as party decor!  I'm so excited and I have a ton of ideas of different ways to display them, but first I had to decide on a backdrop.

After searching Pinterest I found that most Lalaloopsy parties contain several different colors and are very bright and busy.  You know how I feel about visual clutter (I hate it), so I decided to narrow our color palette down to just three colors: white, light pink and dark pink.  This way the dolls can stand out against a simple backdrop without things looking to crazy.

We certainly have plenty of dolls on hand, but I did need to purchase a few basic items.  Read on to see how the decor for an entire party as been assembled for less than $18:

Wrapping Paper & Plates

The Wrapping paper I found for .50 at a garage sale last month.  With the pink and white pattern it will come in really handy for creating invitations and decorating the party.

The plates were purchased at Dollar Tree for $1 a pack.  I chose various colors (and two sizes) because I will use some for creating button decor and the rest for serving food.

(Button decor post coming soon)

Napkins - Cups - Straws

Again I shopped Dollar Tree to find these pink and white supplies.
I'm most excited about the paper straws!

Table Coverings & Balloons

The pink table coverings are from Dollar Tree ($1 each) and the white table cover/ balloons are all from Wal-Mart.  Most Wal-Mart party supplies also retail for around $1.

Button Confetti

I wanted some sort of 'confetti' to use on the tables and figured buttons would do the trick.  Not only are they fitting for a Lalaloopsy theme (each doll has button eyes) but the color assortment in this package is perfect.

I found these at Wal-Mart for less than $2.

Lalaloopsy Dolls

Here is a small portion of Baby Girl's Lalaloopsy collection.  She's been requesting these for a couple of years now and has gathered quite a few - I ended up having to buy bins just to keep each kind organized and separate for her!

I'm going to be making sure everybody is in their correct outfits and ready to go in the next few days.  I'm excited to start playing and I hope you enjoyed the post, thanks for stopping by!
