Spring Cleaning: Laundry Room

This laundry room spring cleaning list is my favorite one of the series, probably because laundry is my favorite household chore.  What's not to love about detergent, bubbles and fresh smelling clothes?  And this little love of mine goes way back- As a child I used to keep empty detergent and fabric softener bottles in my toybox and I would use them to pretend to wash my doll clothes 😀

So without further ado, here's the spring cleaning laundry room checklist:

Spring Cleaning: Living/ Family Room

With a couple of weeks left until March, it's that time of year when most people start their spring cleaning.  I say 'most' because some weirdos (like myself) can't wait until spring and start their cleaning in January.

Truth:  I'm so bad that I changed the name from 'spring cleaning' to 'new year cleaning' and actually start the day after Christmas!  As soon as the Christmas holiday if over I take down the decorations and rip through my house room by room - cleaning, organizing, purging and washing everything.  I know a lot of people would find it a nightmare, but I love completely cleaning my house all in one big swoop 😆😆😆

So, even though my 'spring' cleaning has been done for some time now, I'm not going to leave you hanging.  I've gone ahead and made up a spring cleaning list that can easily be used for most homes.  And better yet, I've broken it down into separate rooms so that normal people can follow along at a reasonable pace.

I'm starting off today with the living/ family room list and I'll be posting every day or so over the next week with the remaining rooms.  Some might like to follow along daily while others might prefer to tackle one room per month (or even not join in at all 😁).  But I figure that by posting quickly I can avoid bogging down the blog with nothing by cleaning for the next several weeks.  So, here we go:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Party Decor

We had our Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle birthday party a couple of weeks ago and I can't wait to show you the decor!

In case you missed anything so far:
You can click here to see the invitations,
or click here to see how I made the paper faces.

Otherwise, read on to see the fun:

Balloons

After seeing this TMNT lantern post on Pinterest, I figured it would be pretty easy to recreate with balloons.

Just cut strips of colored crepe paper into lengths of about 2.5 feet and glue on paper eyes (I made the eyes in the same way as I did  here).  Once that is complete, wrap the masks around green balloons and use a sharpie to draw on a mouth.  Remember, you will need orange for Michelangelo, red for Raphael, blue for Leonardo and purple for Donatello.

Note- I also made a couple of black balloons with red masks to represent the foot clan 😉

Ninja Vases

I kept the table tops simple with a green Dollar Tree plastic covering and layered a black napkin on top.  Wanting to add height to the tables, I used extra green crepe paper to fill a few cylinder vases with color.  Once that was done I wrapped some more crepe paper around the outside of the vases and glued on a couple of googly eyes.

The table coverings, napkins, crepe paper, balloons and googly eyes can all be found by clicking
on this Dollar Tree (affiliate) link.

Dessert Station

Again employing paper goods to convey a color theme, I used blue and purple plates, orange cups, red and black napkins to add dimension to the dessert buffet.

I'll have a bakery post with all of the dessert details coming soon, but for now here are a few close-up pics:

Michelangelo Mini Cake

Raphael, Donatello & Leonardo Layer Cake

Colorful Cupcakes

Turtle Quotes

I thought it would be fun to print up a few quotes from the various TMNT movies and shows.  I taped the quotes onto backgrounds to represent the four turtle mask colors, though the quotes don't necessarily belong to that specific turtle.  It was really just a way to continue the color theme throughout the party.

Purple:  A Ninja's most powerful weapon is the shadows
Red:  God I LOVE being a turtle!
Orange:  Just Ninja-kick the damn rabbit!
Blue:  Wise men say, forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza

Turtle Figurines

In addition to the paper decor, I also placed my son's turtle figurines around the desert station.  These are exactly the same as the figurines that we used to make Christmas tree ornaments this past year.

(You can click here to find that ornament post)

And that was our TMNT birthday party.

Deluxe Printable Pack - Valentine Edition + GIVEAWAY!

Valentine's Day is coming soon and I've got a couple more printable packs ready just in time!

My deluxe printable packages are  digital download collections that contain the files to print an assortment of decorative tags and labels in five separate styles.  Once downloaded, you keep the files forever and may print as many times as you like!

There are two Valentine collections available (Pink Valentine and Red Valentine) that contain everything you will see in this post.

Use the printed images to decorate cupcakes, create treat bags, put together seasonal art and much more, take a look:

Pink Valentine Cupcake Labels

I created these tiny printables with cupcakes in mind (just attach to toothpicks and insert into a finished dessert), but they work well for decorating in other ways as well.

Here you can see that I used one label to dress up a jar for a seasonal candy gift.  Another label, attached to the front of a glass votive, added a touch of love to an otherwise plain candle.

(You can click here for a full cupcake printable tutorial)

Pink Valentine Printable Labels

I created a set of printable labels as well.
These are perfect for smaller framed art, treat jars and gift tags.

Pink Valentine Fold-over Treat Bag Labels

These printables, when cut from the printer sheet, are the perfect size to act as festive toppers for treat bags.  Just fill a few sandwich bags with the treat of your choice and attach a folded label to the top.  And just like that, you are ready for classroom parties or other events where you would like to send your guests home with a little something extra.
