If you are like me you love photos of beautifully styled laundry rooms complete with all of the soaps having been transferred into upgraded containers. I think it's so pretty! But I really don't want to take the time to mess with all of my detergents and fabric softeners every time they are empty or I have to grab a different scent because one is out. I also don't feel super comfortable having glass jars out in the open in such a busy area. So I came up with a compromise: faux product laundry decor!

I started with these beverage dispensers that I found at the thrift store for about $5 each...
...and then mixed up some resin combined with acrylic paint. I chose a couple of shades of blue to look like detergent and fabric softener.
You can check out this post if you want more details about working with resin or this one if you want to read about how I messed it up once!
You can click here to find the resin I used on Amazon.
Once my resin was mixed and the colors added, I poured them into the glass containers. If you use a jar with a spout like I did, you'll want to make sure they are tightly closed.
Also, there must have been a tiny chip near the spout opening of the dark blue container. Because of this the heat of the resin (as it cured) caused a few tiny spider cracks to spread out from the spout. I still think it looks ok and thankfully it held up. Now that the resin is fully cured the container is nice and solid, but had it leaked out it could have been a disaster. I recommend letting the resin filled containers cure on top of some sort of dish that can contain any leaked resin to avoid ruining your work surface.
And here are my finished faux laundry soaps on display. Nice and tidy and cute to look at!
