I love making fake bakes to decorate with! Complicated pieces can include clay, resin, salt dough, spackle, painting, drying time and all kinds of detail work. I don't mind the steps, but sometimes simple is good too. Here is another example of a quick and easy fake bake using a pre-existing heart shaped cake pan, check it out:

Here is the pan as I found it at the thrift store, for $1.99. Used pans may have oil residue from previous baking. Make sure to clean them well so that your paint can stick.
Using spray paint in chocolate brown, I gave the pan a full coating.
After that is was as simple as using white puffy paint to highlight the details.
And there you have it, a pretty faux cake ready for display!
