Now on to the main bedroom:
This photo from the real estate listing shows the room when we purchased the house. We painted the walls, scrubbed the floors and swapped the light out for a ceiling fan.
Walking in is a large window with a comfy chair and shelf.
The shelf was a $7 yard sale find!
Before I get to the rest of the room I wanted to show you this China cabinet. I just found it a couple of weeks ago at the thrift store for $119. I've done about 17 pieces since we moved in and am finally nearing the end!
Our TV area of the main bedroom had been like this:
Plastic drawers and a broken dresser 😏
I've been looking for something that I could put here to hold the TV and store the clothing. I knew a dresser wouldn't be large enough, but I also didn't want something that would stick too far out into the walkway. Here is what I ended up doing:
After painting the piece in white I used the top on one side of the room and the bottom on another. The top is skinny enough to leave enough walk room, tall enough for the TV and holds tons of clothing (I sprayed the glass doors in gold to hide the clutter).
The larger bottom cabinet I moved over by the bed and used it to elevate the faux fireplace. There is so much storage in the top portion alone that the bottom cabinet is only about 1/3 full!
I need to work on accessorizing the top of the TV cabinet a little better - I'm thinking some ivy plants - but overall I'm really happy with the improvement.

And there you have the main bedroom.

DeleteAs mentioned I love the final look of the bedroom, especially the gorgeous duvet. Where did you get that?
The folded into fourths white comforter was a thrift store find, the folded in half white comforter is from Walmart (Better Homes And Gardens) and the beige/ sage duvet is from Target - it was a wedding shower gift so it's held up for 21 years now!
DeleteThat was a very ingenious way to use the top of the hutch! Thanks for sharing at the #HomeMattersParty.

DeleteYou are on your way, homes.... they are never ending, or that has been our experience. Just when you think you are nearing the end, you come up with more projects. Good idea to use the top portion of the cabinet in your bedroom.
ReplyDeleteAnd then there is the outside/ yard too.....! Thanks for reading!
DeleteLooks great! Painting the China cabinet made a huge difference! Thanks for sharing on Crafty Creators.
