The cutters I used were these snowman shapes in four different sizes.
(This set is similar but the snowmen don't have arms)
After mixing up some salt dough I used the set of thrifted leaf cutters to create these shapes and let them air dry. Sometimes I air dry my dough and sometimes I use the oven at 250. Air drying leaves the dough completely flat and pale, but takes at least a week. If your dough pieces are very big it can take longer, and if the room is humid mold can even start to grow while the dough is still damp. Oven drying needs a couple of hours at least and will give the dough a bit of a browned look. Sometimes the dough can get puffy in the oven, but if you catch it quickly enough you can use another pan to flatten your pieces back down.
I painted my cookies white first and then added the black hats, both in acrylic.
And I used puffy paint for the faces, buttons and scarves. You could do these parts with a brush as well, but I like the added dimension that puffy paint gives.
And here are my completed snowmen!
