Fixing up Barbie Furniture

 Vintage Toys

Last week I shared the vintage Barbie house that I decided to bring down from my attic.  Here is how I fixed up the furniture and parts of the house:

The original TV, refrigerator and stove/ oven were included with the house, but were missing their stickers.  The bed was missing the mattress so I replaced it with a bit of purple craft foam.

The TV was an easy fix as I just painted the screen black with acrylic paint.

The stovetop took a bit more work.  I first painted the burners and clock black, then measured them for size

Using Cricut's Design Space, I made up a few images and then cut them in sticker vinyl.  I chose a purple color that went with the utensils

(This photo shows the burners and clock for the stove, as well an an ice maker decal for the refrigerator)

Here is the stove/ oven before and after, such an improvement!

And here is the fridge with an ice maker decal.  In addition to the decal I painted the ice maker background and door handles in black.

In addition to fixing up the furniture, I also wanted to decorate the house a bit and printed these photos.  The larger ones I just liked and thought they would make fun posters, but the tiny ones are all Barbies that I had in the 80s.  I thought they could be like pictures of friends on the fridge, or fashion inspiration on the door of the closet

The photos include; Crystal Barbie, Work Out Barbie, Island Fun Barbie, Tropical Barbie and Funtime Barbie (mine was the pink one)

Using the same color vinyl as the decals, I made backgrounds for the pictures and hot glued them on top.

Aren't they cute on the fridge?

Here is a good before and after of the fridge.

The rest of the photos I put on the closet door upstairs.

The posters I put inside the closet.  I like them, but didn't want to commit to having them as part of the overall decor of the house 😄

Lastly, I fixed up the flower boxes.  Rather than leaving them white I painted the tops green.  I also trimmed the plants to different heights and hot glued them in place so that they look more tidy.

And that's how I fixed up the Barbie furniture and decor.
