Faux Chocolate Easter Bunnies

Chocolate Bunny Easter Decor

Hello everyone, I hope all are well and healthy!
I've decided that while we are socially isolating I may as well get as many projects done as possible.  That means a whole lot of browsing through Pinterest has been going on 😉

I was inspired by this post from the Artsy Fartsy Mama to make my own faux chocolate bunnies and I knew I had to give it a go:

Ceramic Bunny

I found my bunnies at the Dollar Tree, but any ceramic bunny decor will do.  I plan to keep my eye out for more while treasure hunting so that I can expand the family 😄

You can click here to view Dollar Tree's online selection of holiday decor and more.

Note:  Dollar Tree has currently suspended online ordering due to the Coronavirus pandemic.  You may still browse their selection, but purchases can only be made in store.  If you happen to be out for necessities, go ahead and grab a few, but I don't recommend making any extra trips at this time.  I picked my bunnies up before our State's lock down took effect 😉

Supplies

In addition to my bunnies, I used brown acrylic paint and puffy paint in pink and blue.

Hook Removal

Not wanting my bunnies to hang as ornaments, I used a pair of pliers to remove the metal hooks.

Paint

I gave my bunnies two coats of the 'melted chocolate' paint.  In person they look pretty good, but apparently my camera picks up things I can't see on my own.  I'm looking at these photos and wincing at the uneven spots!  I'll probably go back and touch them up this weekend 😄

A bit of puffy paint for the bows and my faux chocolate bunnies are done. will be done after a touch up 😆  I can't wait to find more now, especially larger ones like Lindsay used in her post.  If you haven't already, go ahead and check out her site now!
