Next to our vegetable garden is a strawberry patch where I wanted to add some Strawberry Shortcake inspired houses. Using a couple of terra cotta pots and some paint did the trick, read on to see how you can make some yourself:

Taking a couple of old pots I cleaned them well and spray painted them in pink and red.
(You might notice the fake bake fall cookies in the background, you can read about them in this post)
Using a shade of light pink acrylic, I hand painted shapes that would be the doors and windows.
If you look closely at the door, you will see a pencil sketched square. I painted a layer of glow-in-the-dark paint over this square thinking that if the tiny window could light up at night it would be absolutely adorable! The strawberry plants eventually grew so high that they blocked out the pots from getting light during the day, but it's still a cute idea if you were to put your finished pots somewhere else.
Using brown acrylic I painted on the details.
And then added on greenery with green acrylic. Once dry I gave the pots a good coating of clear sealant to protect them from the elements.
Here is a close-up of each pot.
And here the little houses in the strawberry patch! We've since added in a patch each for raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and a small cherry bush tree, so I might be making up some more little houses this summer 😄
This post will show you how to make the strawberry painted rocks. It also shows how well the strawberry plants took off during the first year as well as a link to the plants that I bought.
