I had an event where I needed a small bag, and this blue one was the perfect size and color. It was too plain though, so I decided to glam it up using some recycled charms, check it out:

More than 10 years ago I had a phone case with these pretty charms. Once the phone and case were obsolete, I got rid of them but saved the 'jewelry'. The charms have been hanging out in my drawer of jewelry supplies ever since.
Here is the small leather clutch that I found (thrifted of course) for $1.99. I loved the color and size, but wanted it to be a little fancier.
Using E6000 industrial strength glue, I attached the larger charm to the front of the clutch like this.
The smaller charm I repurposed into a hair ornament by cutting and shaping a thick piece of wire before attaching the charm with more E6000.
Note: Cutting your own wire can create sharp edges. If you are making accessories for others, especially children, you may be better off purchasing pre made hair clips.
Here is how the hair ornament looks in place.
And that's how I upgraded a simple bag using recycled phone case charms!
