Making Labels for Barbie Groceries

Vintage Toys

If you have been reading recently, you will remember that I brought my Barbie Dream House down from the attic.  The Goodwill found house came with furniture but no accessories....until I scored a bag at another thrift store!  The grocery items were without stickers, but I fixed that myself.  Check it out:

Here is the total haul that I found for $4.

Some dishes.

Some makeup accessories.  I put those on the makeup table as they were.

And a bag of unlabeled groceries!

(There were also some metal dishes that I gave to my niece and some random gray pieces.  I think maybe they were supposed to fit in some sort of appliance)

I went online and found photos of groceries that I liked.  The top shows the original pic, the bottom shows how you can save the image to your pc then edit the photo to crop how you want.  I removed all but the eggs from the picture.

Next I measured the surface of each piece to be covered.

Using a word document I inserted a shape...

...and adjusted the measurements so that it would print in the exact size that I needed for each grocery item.

Using shape fill I selected the photo that I wanted to fill it in...

...and then also checked 'no outline' to remove the black outline from the shape.

I followed the same steps for each item (make multiple if the item has more than one side that you want labeled - front and back, for example) and then printed them out.

I cut the shapes out from the paper and gathered an adhesive (Mod Podge) and paint brush.

I attached the labels by painting a layer of the adhesive onto the plastic, pressing on the image and then adding another layer of adhesive to seal.

Here is how the groceries look in the refrigerator, aren't they cute?!  This worked well for the groceries that were unlabeled, but you could use it for those that come with labels as well.  If you want to switch things up for a custom look just remove the factory stickers and proceed with whatever you want!
