Pantry Cabinet Makeover

 Home Decor

I decided to upgrade my current faux pantry after finding a display cabinet at the thrift store.  Read on to see how I made it over:

Here is the cabinet that I had in place at the time; a simple bookshelf painted white with photo frame 'doors' to keep the dust out.

When I found this cabinet that was taller and had an actual working door, I knew I had to snap it up.  It was a great deal at a thrifted $20 😉

Look at what I did moving it into the house, I cracked one of the glass panels!  No problem though, I can fix that...

...First I sealed the crack with e6000 and let dry.

Next I placed an acrylic ruler on top of the broken section and took a picture.

I then uploaded that photo to Cricut's Design Space and stretched the image so that the measurements matched the grid on screen.  If you look closely, you can see the crack.

With the image of the crack in place, I designed a sticker on top knowing it would be the exact size and shape to cover it up!

I cut the vinyl and placed the sticker like this.   I decided to mirror the sticker and placed another on other side of cabinet as well.  This makes it look uniform and intentional.

I painted the cabinet white and put the glass panels back in place.  You can see the stickers on the bottom left and right sides.

I got everything filled in and loved how it looked...

...but I felt nervous about the thin glass shelves.  My husband cut stronger ones out of wood for me that I painted in white and put in instead.

Here is how it all looks now:

I'm happy to have five shelves now instead of four, and the working door is so convenient!

This post will take you through what's on each shelf.

You might have noticed the new tins that I added at the same time.  I found them at the thrift store for $2 each and cut stickers for them using this SVG bundle.

And here is the new cabinet all finished and in place.  Being able to open it up and fuss with my collection is such a treat!
