After finding a set of animal cookie cutters at the thrift store, I decided to make some faux animal crackers. Read on to see how:

Here is the Wilton set that I found for $1.99.
Using Crayola Model Magic and some Apple Barrel acrylic paint in Classic Caramel, I mixed in the paint until I had a nice beigy color.
(This post will show you step-by-step the mixing process)
Once I had the color that I liked, I rolled the Model Magic out on some waxed paper and stuck in my cutters. Rather than pull the 'crackers' right out and spoil the shapes, I popped the Model Magic filled cutters into the freezer. After freezing the shapes came right out of the cutters without trouble.
I let the shapes thaw, then fully dry before moving on to decorating.
Starting with puffy paint, I outlined the shapes then added more paint to fill them in with 'icing'.
While the paint was still wet I then added in the tiny foam beads to look like sprinkles, and let everything dry.
Aren't they cute?! I put them in a jar with a few other faux cookie treats and stashed them in my faux cookie cabinet. You can see more about that cabinet here.
And that's how I made my Model Magic animal crackers.
